Monthly Marker May 2017: Kelten zonder Grenzen

Monthly Marker 2017m05 Kelten zonder Grenzen

Time flies, and a new month has dawned again, so it’s time to announce our new Monthly Marker! And with the festival season now in full swing we thought we would focus on that a little.

All through the month of May, the month leading up to Keltfest of course, we will be playing Kelten zonder Grenzen‘s ‘Andro ofzo‘ five to six times a day. This song is a lovely Balfolk piece with a twist!

Because the song is named after the Andro, a group dance, but it is in fact a Scottish, which is a couple’s dance! But we are certain both dances will be taught and performed at Keltfest, so we thought we would give you a little practice. 🙂

Monthly Marker April 2017: Harmony Glen

Cover: Harmony Glen-Live in Bremen

It’s already the third day of the month, so you already had three days to discover our new Monthly Marker. Did anyone find it yet? 😉

All through April we will play Harmony Glen’s ‘Midnight on the Water‘, from their new album ‘Live in Bremen’, five to six times a day. As the name of the album suggests this song was recorded during a live performance in Germany, so it definitely captured the amazing energy that the band members show on stage.

Monthly Markers March 2017: Trolska Polska/Floating Sofa Quartet

It’s the first of the month again, so that means it’s time for a new Monthly Marker! All through February we got to enjoy the beautiful sounds of Jacqueline Helisir, time to move on now! But since she is in Denmark right now, we thought we wouldn’t move very far 😉

We had a very hard time picking a song though, because there is just so much good music there. So we didn’t choose. 😀

All through March you will hear five to six times a day, right after the beautiful jingle by Imbue, first the amazingly festive Krølle Bølle-Polka by Trolska Polska, followed by the very danceable Vill Du Flyga by the Floating Sofa Quartet!

Enjoy!!!

P.S.: Did you know that aside from the fact that they’re both Danish bands there’s another connection between Trolska Polska and the Floating Sofa Quartet?
Not one but two of the members of the latter also play in the former 😉

Monthly Marker February 2017: Jacqueline Helisir

Jacqueline Heliser

It’s the 1st of February so it’s time for a new Monthly Marker, and we really have something special for you! This time we didn’t choose a song from an album, but we chose a song that we recorded ourselves! (No, it’s not us singing, we wouldn’t do that to you) 😉

This month we will give extra attention to an amazing traditional, and a personal favourite of both Alex (FB) and Arjan (FB), called Siúil A Rún. The version we will be playing five to six times a day is a hauntingly beautiful rendition by Jacqueline Helisir (FB) and it was recorded by us during her performance at the Midwinter Fair Archeon (FB) this last December.

If you like it only half as much as we do we’re certain you’ll be enjoying it greatly this month!

NEW YEAR, NEW MONTH, NEW MARKER!
(Yes, we know we’re a day late, let’s just call it a New Years hangover 😉 )

First of all: Happy New Year to all of you!! We wish you all a very festive and musical 2017 and we’re honoured to play our part in that!

Now, back to “business”: We have a new Monthly Marker, you know, that song we’ll play 5 to 6 times a day, every day for a whole month! To celebrate the new year we chose a song from a brand new album, “Arvakr” from Sowulo’s recently released second CD “Sol”. This song combines the amazing musical quality we have come to know and expect from Sowulo with a very refreshing new, more danceable, festive sound that we have seen them develop over the last few years. Let’s all dance into 2017 to these brilliant tunes!
