Monthly Marker June 2015: Pyrolysis

Cover: Pyrolysis-On Mountains High I Stand

First off, a new month kicks off a new Monthly Marker. After having enjoyed some extra Trolska Polska during May, June will bring us a track called “Life At Morrison’s” by a group called Pyrolysis. If you’ve never heard of them it’s because they are “up and coming”, so to speak. But we suggest you keep an eye on them as we think they are definately going places! The song itself was taken from their first full-length album which they are set to release the 26th of June. So an exclusive teaser track for you all, right here on CeltCast!

With a new month also comes a new Monthly Marker:

We have enjoyed the uplifting sounds of Cara’s Take Flight all through April, but now, in the face of what we all hope will be another great season, we wanted to really start that summer vibe. And one band that always gets us in a hot ‘n happy summer mood is Trolska Polska!

Hailing from Denmark, this merry band of amazing musicians, formed by well known and award winning Danish folk hero Martin Seeberg, has been bringing their trollsound to many an event in Europe, and in doing so has brightened up many a festival!

We hope you’ll enjoy “Rumpenisserne” as much as we do, and we hope to join you in some trolldancing this summer!

It is with a sad heart that we must announce an ending here at CeltCast.
We have had a great time so far, but all good things must come to an end.

Wait…no! We’re not closing the station! CeltCast is unstoppable!

This post is about our new Monthly Marker. It’s a new month, after all!
(It’s also April Fools’ Day of course)

This past month we have had the pleasure of featuring Greenrose Faire’s Far Away, but with a new month comes a new track. Starting today you will hear the track “Take Flight” by Cara 5 to 6 times a day. Cara is a multinational group of musicians making traditional Irish and Scottish music, but with a surprising modern twist. The featured track is taken from their album Horizon (2013), which is well worth a listen for any Folk enthusiast!

Cara was introduced to us by our friend and friendly photographer Don Bakhuizen from Don Bakhuizen Event Photography. Thanks for the tip Don!

Monthly Marker March 2015: Greenrose Faire

For reasons that are very boring (they include words such as “generating statistics” and “playlist analysis”) but still are very important for the inner workings of a radio station, we need a specific point of recognition in our playlists. This could be anything, from a bleep to a fixed commercial break.

But we do not want bleeping ads 😉 disrupting our stream. We are not in this to be making money. Our mission is simply to spread the music we love to the four corners of the world. Thus searching for the best of both we came up with what we jokingly refer to as our “Monthly Marker”. We decided to give bands the opportunity to have a spotlight put on a specific track by playing it at that point of reference we needed.

To keep things interesting we change this song every month. The more avid listener may have already picked up on this system, as our past “Monthly Markers” were LEAF official’s “Terveh” in January and Random Reel’s “Clumsy Bear’s Reel” for February.

So with this new month comes a new song! All through March you can hear “Far Away” by the Finnish Folk band Greenrose Faire on average 5 to 6 times a day. We hope you’ll enjoy their music as much as we do, and if so, head on over to their Facebook page and give them a like!
