And our review stream continues!

It are busy weeks in Celtcast headquarters. But with music like this, we don’t really mind.

This week’s gem is Egeria, the new album of our Italian pagan folk friends of EMIAN • PaganFolk Music , and I can already say fans of Emian’s music will like this album just as much as they did the first two albums; Aquaterra and Khymeia, although Emian did introduce some new influences. It was a pleasure to discover those.

Well, there’s just one more thing to do. Give you the link so you all can dive into Emian’s lovely world of Mediterranean pagan folk music.
Enjoy.
Cliff.

Hello music lovers!

Also this week, a lot of hard work has been put into setting up the new radio server. And, we have a theme this Monday, namely: “Close to the CeltCast home” ! 17 albums that were created in the Netherlands and by our neighbours from Belgium.

They are all beautiful albums with their own style! The Ambrozijn album (Wim Claeys, Wouter Vandenabeele) dates from 1998 and contains very original songs. I love it! 🎼

The two albums of Rapalje Celtic Folk Music were bought a long time ago in a beautiful wooden box with lovely detailed booklets in it.

For our balfolk fans we have a number of very danceable albums, such as those from Itchy Fingers , Snaarmaarwaar , EmBRUN , , Tweedledum & Tweedledee , Le Vélo Vert and Ambrozijn.

We bought the album of Snaarmaarwaar (together with two others) at a very special festival in Belgium: Celtic Night Geluwe . We still miss that wonderful event. Ann and Marc created this festival every year with heart and soul!

The Harmony Glen “Live in Bremen” album is a recording of a concert in Germany. It is a party to listen to this. Jump, jump!

Two albums of Tjarda , “Fairytale Folk” is one of my favourites! Tjarda has a beautiful voice and the harp she plays, gives a nice “fairy” atmosphere. 🧚‍♀️

And, to stay in the mood of the Fairy tales … the album of Elvya Dulcimer “Untold Stories”, where the front of the album perfectly reflects the atmosphere of the narrative (dulcimer) music.

This week again an album of OMNIA, LEAF ( Kati Rán , Tho Mas , Marijn Sies , Fieke van den Hurk and Chloé Bakker ) and SeeD Pagan Folk , which are, in their own way, very special to our scene.

Are you familiar with these albums? Tell us about your favourites!

Happy (Belated) Birthday Dylan!!!

The winter months were usually a quiet time. A time in which we had to think really hard about what to tell you all to keep this page interesting.

These days, there is no rest for the wicked and we are working and posting so much that sometimes, some very important posts get lost in space (cyber or normal space)

So it was to our great shock that we totally missed to post a celebration post for one of our more silent team member’s birthday. So in the mind of better late than never, HAPPY (belated) BIRTHDAY DYLAN!

Many do not know it but Dylan is one of our tech-specialists working hard behind the scenes to get all sorts of awesome stuff build and figured out. Besides that he is a talented musician (check out a project named Bruni) and devoted festival goer!!! His birthday was on the 9th… (yes we are very late – shame shame shame)

But even though we are late, we hope you all would still wish this awesome guy a happy birthday!

Wednesday, review day!

The Vana Events music programmers have a nack of finding new folk talent and giving them a chance on either Keltfest or Castlefest . This year’s Castlefest was no exception.
A new band from Spain suddenly appeared on the schedule. A band called Vael , and they described them as followed:
-“Vael mixes worldly musical traditions with their won roots, Spanish folk music. With acoustic instruments and different singing styles, they deliver a strong message to the audience: -focus on what unites mankind, rather than what separates them.”

Well, that got us, the CeltCast team interested and during the weekend we all went to watch this new band. And we all liked them. Yep, they were a little nervous -who wouldn’t be- but they were lovely people and the music was beautiful. So, of course, we offered to do a review on their debut CD Kairós , and I’m not regretting that offer, not a bit! Kairós is a musical adventure that takes us all over the world. A lovely journey in music.

Eagle eyes will also see a new name in the credits of this review. I’m happy to say that Sara SeeDling joined the editing team, so we can get you informed of the newest and nicest folk music as soon as possible.
Thanks for joining our team Sara 🙂

Now enough talk, here is the review

Hello music lovers!

It’s unimaginable, but it is already Monday and again we have 12 beautiful albums for you to show. So… soon to be heard on our renewed radio station!

We start with a few new albums: during Elfia Arcen we acquired no less than three albums of The Trouble Notes from Berlin. I’m going to jump on only hearing their name! What a talented violin player Bennet Cerven is, what a lot of energy! On a tough day, this music immediately makes you smile again! Love it! <3

Friendly Folk Promotion gave us another album made in this year, called “Welcome Autumn” from the band Scarecrow Jack . A folk-rock band from the Ohio Valley. Pirates, this one is for you! 🦜

Yesterday, Hans Elzinga had his album release party in Leiden (NL) for his CD Introspective. An album that guarantees a very relaxing afternoon on the couch with, of course, incense (name of the first song) on. Not as much an album with pure folk music, more world music, recorded at Dearworld Studio by Fieke van der Hurk. 🧘‍♀️

Last week the Witchcraft (2018) album of Trobar de Morte fell on the CeltCast doormat … Wow, I am very impressed by this album! There is no “best” song. The entire album is one beautiful story, like watching a movie with your eyes closed. I’m in love! <3

We obtained the CanzonettaTedesca album ( GoldenCore Records ) during Festival-Mediaval in Selb, last September. With this album we go back to the German Middle Ages. During this festival we also made live streams of this band. If you want, you can look back these streams by checking our videos. Offline material will follow later on YouTube.

And then we also show seven older ones. All beauties with their own style. The Moon and the Nightspirit copy even is a double album! 😍

Very happy that these beautiful CDs have been processed: The Trouble Notes – Super Bloom (2019)
Scarecrow Jack – Welcome Autumn (2019)
Hans Elzinga – Introspective (2019)
Trobar de Morte – Witchcraft (2018)
Canzonetta Tedesca – Sing Mein Goldner Hahn (2016)
OMNIA – Pagan Folk (2006)
Asynje – Faerd (2014)
The Moon and the Nightspirit – Mohalepte (2011)
The Moon and the Night Spirit – Mohalepte Bonus (2014)
Poeta Magica – Saga (2014)
Kayleigh – The Dolmen (2015)
FAUN – Renaissance (2005)
