Working hard on a schedule

Festival – Mediaval is getting closer and we are working hard on a schedule for live-streaming and photographing to give you all a good report on how awesome this festival is.

The schedule is quite difficult to set up this year as there are so many unfamiliar bands for the team. It’s one of the best things about travelling far for a festival: all the new people and music you get to know.

However, this twelfth edition there are also some familiar faces, besides Heilung , and ThunderCrow , we will also be able to see the Red Hot Chilli Pipers who we saw last year at Zomerfolk , the friendly faces of Ye Banished Privateers and retrace our dancing steps on Selfish Murphy who we saw just a few months ago at Keltfest !

There will be enough awesome music to enjoy, both new and known!

Exactly a week from today we will arrive at Festival – Mediaval.

Last year was such an amazing experience that going back there will be a joyous experience for the whole team.

However, there is one bittersweet moment of being there. On the first night, ThunderCrow will give their last show in their current setting.

As Rob and Daphyd have explained, Rob will play his farewell show at Festival-Mediaval, after which he will continue with some awesome projects like Guinevere , while Daphyd will continue with Thundercrow with Zachary Bainter . All amazing projects that we will look forward too.

But first, we will enjoy the awesome sound of Thundercrow with Rob and Daphyd at Festival-Mediaval!

We found the loop!

About a year ago Home came out, the first solo album from Rob van Barschot . A album featuring the GUDA drum, a instrument he fell in love with during the recording of ThunderCrow’s Drop It!.

It’s a lovely New Age/Jazzy album that I loved when i first heard it, and still play with just as much joy nowadays, as do the other members of the CeltCast team. But, as New Age music falls outside of the Acoustic folk format we had to decide to leave Home outside of the CeltCast radio stream, which also means it wasn;t eligible for a review on the CeltCast page.

Loving the music I did write a review and published it on my own facebook page Cliff de Booy Concert Photography and I thought that would be the end of it. But….as often happens when we at CeltCast really like something, we tend to start looking for excuses so we cán play it. We start looking for loops in our own format so we can share the music we love. Because in the end thát is why CeltCast was started, To support the bands. To give acoustic folk bands, be it traditional Celtic-, Eastern European-, Nordic-, Viking- or pagan- or fantasy folk a platform where their music can be heard.

Well we found the loop, and that loop is called Fox And Bird. A mystic pop/folk song that Rob wrote together with Tineke Ogink , member of the mystic pop/folk band Guinevere

So here it is, One year after the realise, but only two weeks before Rob-with his band Guinevere- will again be visiting the Castlefest stages, and where he will give two GUDA drum workshops. To give you a feel how that will sound, have a read, and then drop over to spotify and listen to Home. Or better yet, go over to Bandcamp and get your own copy 🙂

Live in the Livingroom: Home!

Live in the Home-room, err…
Living in Live-room, no…
Live in the Livingroom: Home!
We all know and love Rob , the ever-smiling percussionist, known formerly from OMNIA and of course nowadays from his project ThunderCrow , together with Daphyd . Well, recently Rob has released his first solo-album, titled “Home”! Working together with the lovely ladies of Guinevere and other guest musicians like Gijs Anders van Straalen , they produced some amazing music!

So, we have some good news for you! This Tuesday around 20:30h CET, Alex will visit them for a *Live in the Livingroom* session! As you have come to know from us there will be live music, friendly chatting and of course some in depth interviewing ;-). Do you have some questions for Rob, Barbe , Tineke , Tineke or Sanne Mieloo that you’ve always wanted to ask but were afraid to? Well, let Alex do the heavy lifting for you! Just ask your question here or as a comment during the interview and Alex will try to work your question into the evening!

So keep a close eye on our page and let’s all meet up online this Tuesday!
