While our CeltCast concept is mainly focussed on supporting the acoustic folk, which we play on our radiostation, some of our team-members really do appreciate the more loud, noisy and plugged style of folk.

It’s one of the many reasons why we so excited to leave this Friday for Festival – Mediaval !
Besides the awesome bands we have already mentioned over the last few days Blaecky has made some dreams come true with making the line-up complete with Leaves’ Eyes , and Eluveitie !

And they are not even the only awesome folk metal/folk rock bands there! Celtica -Pipes Rock , Red Hot Chilli Pipers and Elane are just a few more that will make us go wild!

Every time we fall in love with the music of a band

Do you remember that childhood feeling, when you would get your new toy? The excitement, the wonder, the sheer joy of knowing that this is the start of completely new adventures! Well, that’s how we at CeltCast feel every time we fall in love with the music of a band that we had not previously heard. And because of that, next weekend we will probably feel like the proverbial kid in a candystore, as Festival-Mediaval features many, many bands that we have not yet heard perform before!

Various medieval periods brought into the 21st century by SKRÖMTA . The Eastern sounds transported to Germany by ORO – Music from the wild, wild East . A nice dram of jigs and reels by The Aberlours . The moving music of the minstrels of Viscum . And so, so much more!

Will you be joining us on our tour of discovery this weekend? We can promise you adventure and exciting times!

Working hard on a schedule

Festival – Mediaval is getting closer and we are working hard on a schedule for live-streaming and photographing to give you all a good report on how awesome this festival is.

The schedule is quite difficult to set up this year as there are so many unfamiliar bands for the team. It’s one of the best things about travelling far for a festival: all the new people and music you get to know.

However, this twelfth edition there are also some familiar faces, besides Heilung , and ThunderCrow , we will also be able to see the Red Hot Chilli Pipers who we saw last year at Zomerfolk , the friendly faces of Ye Banished Privateers and retrace our dancing steps on Selfish Murphy who we saw just a few months ago at Keltfest !

There will be enough awesome music to enjoy, both new and known!

Monthly Marker September 2019: Danceperados of Ireland

Danceperados Of Ireland

I think we all know by now that starting a new month also means that we have a new Monthly Marker! We use these markers not only to highlight bands and artists that we love, but we also tend to combine it with a festival that we will be attending during that month, and so it should come as no surprise that for this months Marker we looked at the bands that will play at Festival – Mediaval!

Now, there are several bands that play there that are just too far outside of our format, and even more bands that we haven’t been in contact yet, so we just don’t have their music…yet. But one band really jumped out at us, and that is Danceperados Of Ireland! Their blend of emotional music and high energy “danceables” makes us here at CeltCast very happy, and so we are proud to announce that we chose one of their songs as our feature track this September! The song we chose, from their 2016 album ‘Life, Love and Lore of the Irish Travellers’, not only radiates happiness in its very danceable, upbeat sound, but the title of the track immediately reminded us of the feeling that we all know and live from festivals. So please enjoy ‘Session at the Campfire‘ with us five to six times a day throughout the whole month, and we hope to see you all at Festival-Mediaval XII (FB), either in person or online!

Festival-Mediaval wouldn’t be Mediaval if they didn’t have some spectacular shows. With Heilung on Saturday they have one of the most popular acts in the scene at the moment!

The whole team is really really really excited to see this ensemble of brilliant musicians, many of which are good friends!
