Kaunan, the medieval/norse folkband

Kaunan , the medieval/norse folkband that plays all the hottest hits of the medieval period is a German/Swedish/Austrian band formed by Oliver S. Tyr , Göran Hallmarken and Boris Koller .

We first encountered them at the Midwinter Fair Archeon where we immediately fell in love with their whole personality on stage and their approach to the music.

Last year they released their first album “Forn” of which we immediately used the amazing song “Vallåt” (featuring Einar Selvik and Maria Franz as vocals) as our Monthly Marker!

All performances at Castlefest are worth watching, but this one on the Village Stage on Friday is certainly high on the wishlist of many of the CeltCast Family, so we do recommend it to everyone there!

February’s Monthly Marker!

Thank you Sunfire , for a great meet-up in the CeltCast livingroom, and for providing us with a beautiful and energetic “Yoyo” for a Monthly Marker this past month. But January is now behind us, so it’s time for a new song in the spotlights!

February’s Monthly Marker is an amazing song by Kaunan , in which a beautiful duet is sung by guest singers Maria Franz ( Euzen , Songleikr , Heilung ) and Einar Selvik ( Wardruna ). The song is about a couple that have just had a new baby. The mother is working the hay while the father is at the farm, when she calls out to him to ask if the baby is still alive. Spoiler alert, yes, the child lives!

We hope you enjoy this moving song as much as we do, as we play it five to six times a day, every day, throughout the month!
