Introducing Throwback Thursdays

And today we are throwing you back to one of the most amazing shows of last summer. Back when Heilung made a whole field of festival goers cheer, gasp and quiver in awe. Except for Kees , our award winning photographer took his moment, stayed sharp and shot these amazing pictures. Needless to say, we wouldn’t mind having Heilung back at Castlefest this year!

PS: we are very proud of Kees, he just got one of his amazing Heilung pictures published in REVOLVER Magazine !!!

Happy birthday to Jan de Vries of Cesair! ?

Here is our (belated ?) present: a review of Omphalos by Cliff!

As most of you will know, Fieke van den Hurk left Cesair last year to focus on her career as a producer and sound engineer at her Dearworld studio . The band was extended with new, but well-experienced band-members Luka Aubri (RASTABAN) and Faber Auroch ( Sowulo ).

With this change, there was no way around it… the big question with Cesair ‘s second album was: “How would they sound with their new line-up?”. The pre-CD-release concert at Castlefest 2017 sounded very promising. Visually the band was as entertaining as ever.

But what about the album? Well…
Read all about it in Cliff’s latest review ! 😉

CELT-N-FOLK XIII: Cesair, SeeD & Emian

When the news came of an event with Cesair , SeeD and EMIAN PaganFolk as the line up, the whole of the CeltCast team did a huge happy dance.
CELT-N-FOLK ‘s edition of CELT-N-FOLK XIII: Cesair, SeeD & Emian sure had a really brilliant look to it!

The moment it was announced we knew that this was not only going to be an event with amazing music but also an evening with very special friends. Friends that we do not see often enough.

Now, a day later we can say that it was even more special than expected. The evening was opened by SeeD Pagan Folk, who treated us to many really awesome new songs, even some new instruments. (Yes Koen , your biceps look amazing with the bagpipe!! ?) SeeD was followed by our Italian friends of EMIAN Pagan Folk. Just like with Castlefest they had the complete crowd dancing to their beautiful tunes in no time. Closing the evening in the most absolute brilliant way was Cesair. I don’t need to tell you how good they are on stage and it was something very special. All the more because last night Fieke joined them on stage once more.

Today we recover from this amazing evening. If you want to see and hear what we are talking about, look for our livestream video’s of last night. You won’t be disappointed!!

Monthly Marker December 2017: The Dolmen

Cover: The Dolmen-Kayleigh

With the new month comes a new Monthly Marker. Having spent November in the “Quiet Land of Erin” with Gwendolyn Snowdon, this time we “Look to the Sea” with Kayleigh of The Dolmen!

Last weekend, at the Castlefest Winter Edition, The Dolmen treated all of us with not one but two amazing performances. One very powerful set following the Yule ritual that was led by Taloch Tony Jameson, and the next day in a more intimate setting an acoustic set that touched the hearts of all present! This inspired us and made the choice for our new focus-track an easy one. Please enjoy Look to the Sea five to six times a day, every day, for the entire festive month!

You can find The Dolmen here:

Castlefest Winter Edition 2017 is already over.

These last two days have been flying by.

Yes, Castlefest in the winter is cold, yes it was wet at times and yes we cursed the wind many times but it was magnificent!!!

It was Castlefest at its best and while we wanted to be everywhere all at once, we decided to take it slow today. Make time for family and friends instead of running from stage to stage as we did yesterday.

We did streams of Sunfire , The Dolmen (while doing an acoustic set in the tent) and of Kwintijn’s last time sharing the stage with Prima Nocta . We cannot begin to tell you all how special these moments were. We are already looking forward to the Summer 2018 edition.

Check out our page for the live streams and a special Prima Nocta give-away:
