We found the loop!

About a year ago Home came out, the first solo album from Rob van Barschot . A album featuring the GUDA drum, a instrument he fell in love with during the recording of ThunderCrow’s Drop It!.

It’s a lovely New Age/Jazzy album that I loved when i first heard it, and still play with just as much joy nowadays, as do the other members of the CeltCast team. But, as New Age music falls outside of the Acoustic folk format we had to decide to leave Home outside of the CeltCast radio stream, which also means it wasn;t eligible for a review on the CeltCast page.

Loving the music I did write a review and published it on my own facebook page Cliff de Booy Concert Photography and I thought that would be the end of it. But….as often happens when we at CeltCast really like something, we tend to start looking for excuses so we cán play it. We start looking for loops in our own format so we can share the music we love. Because in the end thát is why CeltCast was started, To support the bands. To give acoustic folk bands, be it traditional Celtic-, Eastern European-, Nordic-, Viking- or pagan- or fantasy folk a platform where their music can be heard.

Well we found the loop, and that loop is called Fox And Bird. A mystic pop/folk song that Rob wrote together with Tineke Ogink , member of the mystic pop/folk band Guinevere

So here it is, One year after the realise, but only two weeks before Rob-with his band Guinevere- will again be visiting the Castlefest stages, and where he will give two GUDA drum workshops. To give you a feel how that will sound, have a read, and then drop over to spotify and listen to Home. Or better yet, go over to Bandcamp and get your own copy 🙂

A new album and playing at Fantasy Forest!

Sweet, upbeat, happy, and fun are just a few words to describe the speed folk music made by PerKelt .

And it is not only the music that fits this description. Many of you will have seen them on stages all over England, at Castlefest or on stages all over Europe and know that these four musicians are fun, happy and passionate. Just look at the constant smile David has during every show and you’ll know what we talk about.

Over the last few years Paya , Štěpán , David and recently Duncan have become dear friends to the CeltCast team and we share many happy hugs and memories. This is why we are looking forward to be meeting up with them at Fantasy Forest in less then two weeks time!

Another reason we are looking forward to seeing these cool people is because they just release a new album ‘Air & Fire’, and we wants it!! we needs it!!! We want to get our hands on a copy of that album and listen to the new songs. As a Team we are very curious to hear this new work and see how the familiar sound of Perkelt has evolved. Especially as our Cliff, who has already heard it, can’t stop talking how surprised he is. And how cool the changes are!!! Just as curious??

It is a beautiful location!

At CeltCast we have been at many festivals in the fantasy and folk scene, all of them are beautiful. It’s either the beautiful castles of Castlefest and Elfia or the relaxing park at Keltfest and Zomerfolk , or the German hills of Selb for Festival-Mediaval .

But we have to admit, traveling to Fantasy Forest will be epic when it comes to location. The festival is being held at Sudeley Castle & Gardens in the stunning Cotswolds in England. This region marked as an area of outstanding natural beauty for a reason. Just a trip there is already enough to make this team of nature lovers very excited. Throw in a castle, happy people and good bands and you have a team smiling brighter than the sun.

The settlement of the Castle dates back to the Anglo-Saxon time, and has seen it’s fair share of drama, battles and life. However the present castle was built in the 15th century and may have been on the site of a 12th-century castle. The gardens consist out of 9 individual gardens, one more beautiful than the other. It will be a heaven for photographers and cosplayers alike to get a good shoot.

We promise, our team will do our utmost best to bring back videos and pictures of our visit there to truly show the beauty of this festival location!
