Good morning from an amazing Fantasy Forest at Sudeley Castle!

We had an amazing first day at this festival!
There were so many things to see and to do! It was hard to keep track of everything awesome going on!

Of course, no need to tell you that the music was great, with bands like PerKelt , Greenrose Faire , The Dolmen and Harmony Glen closing off the day with a great party!

They even had a Wickerman ritual that was so beautiful.
Check out our live stream videos to see this all again.!!

We are looking forward to another great day with lots of music and fun!

Here some pictures from yesterday! All taken by Marielle’s Concert and Event Photography

Time flies when you are having fun!

These last 5 days at the Mittelalterlich Phantasie Spectaculum in Dortmund have been a crazy but fun experience. It is hard to believe that it is already over.

The MPS Dortmund had everything we could have asked for and then some more. We experienced, wind, rain, cold, sunshine, warmth, shops, food, drinks, friends, hugs and of course amazing music!

On Saturday we kicked off the festival with a massive line up. Bands like Rapalje Celtic Folk Music , Saor Patrol , Cultus Ferox , Versengold , Saltatio Mortis , Mr. Hurley & Die Pulveraffen , Letzte Instanz and Knasterbart were all on stage that day. You’ll understand that our team of two photographers were racing from stage to stage having an absolute blast! We didn’t even mind the cold and rain.

Sunday was a lot more quiet and relaxing. Traditional a family day, the bands on stage were also reflecting that feel. We even saw the Heavysaurus!

The Monday was a day off for us festival goers, which was very welcome. It offered a day of relaxing, recovering and reflecting on what had already been a good weekend. And we would be getting 2 more of those days. And we needed the rest for Tuesday!

Tuesday was awesome! Again packed full with great music by Harmony Glen , The Cobblestones , Ye Banished Privateers , Forgotten North , The KingsPipers and of course Waldkauz . It was sunny, it was warm and it was special. The atmosphere created by the die-hard festival goes and the bands was something you don’t encounter often.

The closing day was the first of May, a bank holiday in Germany and it was noticeable. It was very busy with a lot of happy families enjoying the market, the shows, drinks, good food, and the music. Harmony Glen, Ye banished Privateers, Saor Patrol, the Cobblestones and Weltenkrieger – Barden des Lichts ensured that the adults were able to dance and sing along, while the kids had once again to see the Heavysaurus… (and we can confirm that it is also enjoyed by many adults. 😉 )

In the end, it was a really good festival that will be staying in our memories forever. It is sad that this was the last MPS in Dortmund but luckily, there are many more MPS festivals this year and the next to go to!

Monthly Marker March 2019: The Dolmen

Cover: The Dolmen-Wytches & Cunnigfolk

As you may have noticed we’ve been quite busy bringing you updates and videos from the Fantasy Awards 18/19 (FB) this Friday, which is why we’re a bit late announcing the new Monthly Marker. A very perceptive listener may have noticed that we did actually program it into the the stream from the first of the month!

However, speaking of those Awards, it was awesome to see that our chosen band for this month’s marker, The Dolmen, was very successful this Friday, winning not only in the category ‘Best Live Act International’ but also ‘Best Album’ with ‘Wytches & Cunningfolk’ and it is from this album that we chose the song ‘Black is the Colour’ to highlight throughout March.

Taloch (FB) sings this Scottish traditional in his typical deep and raw voice, giving it a genuine and very emotional quality. The song, sounding very subdued, but in a good way, guides the listener through the feelings of the author (or singer) and transports you to the banks of the Clyde. The addition of the rest of the vocals nearing the end of the song lets you know that this is a feeling shared through time and space with anyone who has ever felt a love like this.

We will play this song throughout the month of March five to six times a day in our stream and if you only love it half as much as we do, we’re certain you’ll enjoy it immensely!

You can find The Dolmen here:

The fantasy festival scene emerged last night

After a long cold winter-break, the fantasy festival scene emerged last night to attend the Fantasy Awards 18/19 at Qbus Club Leiden .

This party, organised by Bastaard , was the first time in almost three months we got together again, this time to celebrate a scene that is build on love, friendship, hugs, mead, campfires, laughter and really good music.

Last night, this music was provided by twibv , Datura medieval music , Aelixihr , Four of a Kind , Plunder and The Royal Spuds and ensured that we all got that beautiful “coming home” feeling in our hearts.

Most important focus of this evening was of course the Award ceremony. And the winners for 2018 are:

Best Festival: Castlefest
Best Live Act NL/BE: Rapalje Celtic Folk Music
Best Live Act Internationaal: The Dolmen
Best Album: Wytches & Cunningfolk by The Dolmen
Best Entertainment: House of Wax Entertainment
Best Stand: Magic Within
