Interview with Jyoti!

Though the weather calls us to go outside and relax in a forest or on the beach we shouldn’t forget the nice things that happen indoors! CeltCast returns with another livingroom event, this time we will host the beautiful and talented Jyoti Verhoeff who will tell us all about how her latest album “Touches” came to be, give us some insight into her creativity, and maybe, if we’re lucky, she will play us a few songs too!

Join us online this Friday at 20:30 CET and be part of the CeltCast family! And of course as always feel free to ask your questions, as a comment here beforehand, or ask it live during the event! We will try to get all your questions answered.

We have to admit, The Dolmen live on stage is epic.

We have to admit, The Dolmen live on stage is epic. No matter the situation, time of year or venue, these guys and girls know how to make it huge. They know how to make you feel like you are one with the earth, the festival and the people around you. They know how to make you let loose and go wild.

This epic feeling lingers as we think of last year’s Castlefest . Both during the summer and winter edition, The Dolmen, with their Celtic rock made it more than special.
During the summer version of Castlefest they made us rock on pagan sounds, pirate songs and good old true guitar solos. And while this was also true at the winter edition, it was the yule rituals of 2016 and 2017 performed by singer Taloch , that made it all the more special.

So today we are throwing you back to these three festivals and make you remember how awesome these shows were.

And if you cannot remember, or wasn’t there, you can play a little catch up this coming Castlefest. The Dolmen will be rocking the stage Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

This band, surely deserves a place in the spotlight

This band, surely one of the discoveries of 2018 deserves a place in the spotlight. As the CeltCast team, we were all very impressed when we saw and heard them for the first time live at Keltfest this year. The SIDH , a young and innovative band from Italy, makes a type of music rarely heard at the festivals in Holland. It is a combination of contemporary and electronic Celtic music, made with whistles and bagpipes, keyboards and percussion, Hip Hop and Dubstep beats. It feels like you are taking a trip into the Folk music of the 22nd century.

And we can safely say that we want to hear much, much more of this music at the festivals.

At Keltfest, The SIDH, created a party like no other and naturally, we cannot wait until they will hit the stage three times at Castlefest ! On Friday, Saturday (camping only) and Sunday the party will be at the Fested Castle!

Cliff’s review of… ‘Datura – Gratus et Optatus’ is online!

At CeltCast we do not only follow the Pagan / fantasy folk scene and their festivals. We also like to go to Viking markets, Balfolk nights, medieval gatherings and even ‘normal’ festivals if they happen to be interesting. 😉 It was in the medieval scene were we found the band Datura medieval music . Since their origins in 2006 they have been making quite a name for themselves. Giving wonderful performances at many medieval gatherings or demonstrations. In 2012 Lies , Ces , Tom and Nynke released the album ‘Alpha et Omega’, followed in 2016 by ‘Gratus et Optatus’.

With Castlefest announcing that Datura will perform on the Medieval Field (Datura | Castlefest 2018) , we felt it was high time to introduce this band of lovely talented people to the whole folk world. Welcome in the medieval world of Datura’s ‘Gratus et Optatus’!

Just 3 more weeks until EMIAN PaganFolk is back at Castlefest!

Just 3 more weeks until EMIAN PaganFolk is back at Castlefest ! Last year was their first time at the festival and we can safely say it was a great success!

These crazy Italians had Castlefest dancing, literally! All three shows there were so many people dancing that it was almost impossible not to join in. Their music really does give a chance for the balfolk dancers to go wild. And they did just that! It was special to see the Castlefestians embrace this “new” band with open arms. It was clear that the musicians, Anna , Emilio , Danilo and Martino , were a little overwhelmed by the love and enthusiasm they received.

And it wasn’t only the band who were ‘slightly’ impressed by this all. This success and the joy of this first time Castlefest for such a good friends had our very own co-founder cry happy tears! (you can take a guess who it was ?)

Needless to say, we are looking forward to seeing our friends again, receive long overdue hugs, to listen to beautiful pagan music, and just go dance and be happy! Are you coming and join us? EMIAN is playing Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
